LOOK WHAT OUR YOUTH ACCOMPLISHED SUMMER 2021!

TRAILER (EDITED BY ONE OF OUR STUDENTS, TESS.) FOR THE SHORT FILM "MOVES", ADAPTED FROM THE SCREEN PLAY "MOVES".

YOUTH MAKE SHORT FILM "MOVES"

August 23, 2021- Buffalo inner-city youth, ages 14-17, made a short film this summer with the EXE Jr. Summer Youth Program.  The film, "Moves", is an adaptation of a feature length screen play written by it's Directer, Johnette"JA" Warren-Askew. "Moves" will premier online Friday August 27, 2021 at 6 PM.   The teens were asked to take the abbreviated script, make it their own and write two alternate endings.  The students were also given an introduction to the various jobs that it takes to make a film happen.  They then chose jobs, were taught how to do them and executed them as a team to create a finished product.

EXE Jr. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that teaches incoming 7th-12th grade students an introduction to audio and video production, graphic design and photography, spoken word and creative writing.  This summer's focus was on videography.  Students learned camera work, lighting, sound for film, storyboarding, script writing, editing and more from Marvin R. Askew II and team.  Mr. Askew has his Bachelors of Science for Digital Cinematography from FullSail University.  Some students went through acting coaching and performed for the first time in a film.  "Watching some of them come out of their shells is almost like watching my daughter walk for the first time all over again..", says founding directer JA.

EXE Jr. is a program put on by Expressed Entertainment.  Students receive tablets in the program to work in collaboration with one another and. learn how to operate professional equipment and multimedia programs.  The students come from both the community and the Mayor Summer Internship Program.   It is funded by Mr. & Mr. Warren-Askew II and Expressed Entertainment LLC primarily.  Student sponsorship and donations are accepted on the program's website www.exejr.com. Parents can also place applications for school year internships or next summer's youth program on the aforementioned website.  The mission, is to "Help inner-city youth discover, develop and display their talents".
